vitamin green

Another great book to light up your mind is definitely ‘vitamin green’.This book provides an up-to-date view of contemporary sustainable design and architecture.

Published by Phaidon, at more than 350 pages you can find as much as 500 illustrations. That is surely a big chunk of sustainability to swallow.

This book contains a huge amount of project and every one of them is different. For me, that is the greatest strength of the book. Showing sustainability from many different views.

Recently, many projects and designs are being labelled as sustainable, however only because it is trendy and the real amount of sustainability is questionable. This book shows us, that there are many ways how we can make our projects and lives more sustainable. There is no universal truth or recipe behind being sustainable. But if everyone can do their own small share, our future can light brighter.

There are minimum 2 pages for each project. Name, author, year of completion. And also at least half a page of information about the project and several pictures. Sections, floor plans, photos, diagrams and illustrations.

Project are both small examples of usable design and huge architectural projects. Therefore we can experience sustainability at both micro and macro scale. Toys, handbags, cars, shoes, houses, science centres and villages, you can find nearly everything inside.

The descriptions of the projects are written by a collective of authors, hence they are all different and interesting. When paired with many interesting pictures, they create an exciting combination, that can create a spark in every curious mind.

I would recommend this book to everyone interested in architecture and design. It is can teach you something interesting, give you new ideas and entertain as well.
